I'm living fearlessly this September by participating in the Live Fearless Challenge 2023

I’m getting active to achieve 150kms and raise awareness and much needed funds for Australians living with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

As I challenge myself to reach these goals during September, it would really help me to know that I have your support. If you can rally behind me with even a small donation, it would motivate me through the month and keep my spirits high.

All proceeds go towards Crohn's & Colitis Australia's support services, research initiatives, education and advocacy programs for the Crohn's and colitis community.

Thank you and see you at the finish line!

Happy Birthday Bek

Perhaps it's fitting that Beks birthday falls during the Live Fearless Challenge.
Despite multiple major surgeries between the ages of 9 and 14, and a few different medical therapies,  Bek lives with chronic mild inflammation of her bowel. Her symptoms these days are also mild, and part of her "normal". Her form of IBD notoriously difficult to get under complete control.
But it's not just the symptoms,  it's the appointments,  and the tests, and the sometimes battles she is expected to simply smile through. And for the most part, she simply does.
But, I would love for a cure for her, and effective treatment....and value greatly the supports she can access, that need to be ongoing and expanded.

Why I want to live fearless!

I can only imagine living a life with a chronic illness.  Sure - I'm up close and personal with this.  My work sees me working alongside people who live with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.  I hold down 2 jobs and work more hours than I probably should, because I love what I do.  It's a privilege to be invited into the intimacy of someone's health - and to talk to them about things that just don't get talked about - their poop!  And how their disease impacts on their lives.  To help empower them - to be part of the team helping them feel well. To encourage them to live fearless.
Of course, even closer to home is Bek, my daughter.  The most fearless person I know.  Having developed IBD secondary to her PSC (liver disease) she faced the challenge of a colectomy at 9 ears old.  With no access to the biologics and other advanced therapies at the time, her options were limited.  She lives now with a J Pouch that is in constant mild inflammation as we try various therapies to achieve the ever elusive remission.  She has multiple other diagnosis too, but she lives her life in a way any parent would be proud.  She lives fearlessly.
So, it therefore seems the least I could do to take a challenge of 150kms this month - and no pedals this time, I'm not counting my bike riding, all my kms will be on foot.
I'd love for you to sponsor me - a little....or a lot. Not for me, But to show Bek, to show the people I work for, that out there are many who care and want to see differences made for those living with IBD.

Thank you to my Sponsors
