Testimonials

“My son was diagnosed several years ago and I did this challenge specifically in his honour. He means the world to me and anything I can do to help raise funds to find a cure I will do. To the organisers of the Live Fearless Challenge, I want to say a big thank you to you all and please keep up the great work you are doing.”
Drew Berwick, Live Fearless Challenger

“I set myself a target of 150km for the month but smashed that in the first 2 weeks so decided to set myself a new goal of 300km for the month which I also smashed. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of this fantastic challenge that gave me the opportunity to raise much needed awareness and funds for Crohn's & Colitis Australia. I have a daughter that suffers from Crohn's and is fighting the battles daily so to me this was very personal, and I was proud to be a part of it.”
Louise McDonald, Live Fearless Challenger

“I decided to do the Live Fearless Challenge as my daughter has IBD. My goal was definitely to raise funds but more importantly for me was the raising of awareness of this invisible but debilitating disease. The challenge made it easy to start conversations and through mapping it on my social media I found that people were asking me lots of questions. Through awareness comes understanding and if that helps more people living with IBD then I am happy! I feel like I was able to make a difference and when you’re a mum on the sidelines and mostly feeling helpless, being able to actually do something constructive is often just what the mumma heart needs. I’ll be on board next year and thereafter!”
Jan Jordan, Live Fearless Challenger

“I was extremely grateful for the opportunity to take part in the Live Fearless Challenge 2020 - not only was I able to raise funds and awareness for Crohn’s and colitis, but I was also able to get fit and active in the process which was really good for my own health especially with the COVID-19 lockdown!!”
Josh Gardner, Live Fearless Challenger

“I love taking part in this event every year. As a Crohn’s disease sufferer myself, I find the 5km a day really helps lift my spirits, especially knowing that I am helping people just like me. Living with IBD can definitely get you down in the dumps sometimes, but September is always the happiest month of my year, thanks to the Live Fearless Challenge.”
Hannah Van der Paal, Live Fearless Challenger

“This was the first year I participated in the Live Fearless Challenge. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s nearly 10 years ago. I came forward with my story with Crohn’s on social media for the first time to empower myself, inspire others and raise funds and awareness for Crohn’s & Colitis Australia. In coming forward, I was able to raise over $2,500, spread awareness and inspire a further three people to come forward with their story and sign up for the Live Fearless Challenge! The challenge itself had a huge impact on me as I was able to find the courage to come out publicly finally and talk about my journey. I was able to get fit while doing so too!”
Madee Byrne, Live Fearless Challenger
“I really loved being more active and intentionally getting outside and going for a walk/jog, my kids sometimes came with me too. It was sometimes challenging to get active especially when I'm juggling family life/work/study etc but I made it my priority. I also had an amazing team of people supporting me. I highly recommend this Live Fearless Challenge.”
Kim
“Participating in the Live Fearless Challenge allowed me to take control of my story. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease only five months earlier and this was an empowering way to share my diagnosis with people and show them what it's like coming to terms with an invisible and chronic illness.”
Megan
“I loved being a part of the Live Fearless Challenge 2020, I was lucky enough to be in a team of 21 people and we enjoyed the competitive nature of the challenge as it went along because we could see our team starting to overtake other teams in terms of fundraising and amount of kilometres walked. That really gave us even more motivation to keep up the fundraising and awareness of the disease. Our team came first, and we were thrilled and overwhelmed with how much we raised and walked!”

“Participating in the Live Fearless Challenge this year was very rewarding. My partner has Crohn’s and so I often feel helpless against the silent disease. I wanted to raise money and awareness by reaching out to my friends and colleagues. This challenge was a great way to stay active for a fantastic cause and I hope I spread the word well.”
Stephanie
“This was my first year completing the Live Fearless Challenge and it was fantastic. Initially I thought it would be too much of a challenge for me with my colitis and the chronic pain I suffer with. Once I started I realised I moved more in a day than I realised. This motivated me to step it up. I saw friends more, moved more and got outdoors more which was all beneficial for my mental health. I will forever remember the Live Fearless Challenge as I also found out I was pregnant for the first time. Years we have tried and failed and I think because I was less stressed, more active and in a better place mentally my dream all fell into place. My husband and Mum joined me in the challenge. My Mum can only walk on crutches after failed surgeries and she too managed to crack the 150kms. It motivated her to be more active and she is continuing on with it now. Live Fearless Challenge really was remarkable for us.”

“I completed the Live Fearless Challenge for the first time this year. I have had IBD for 18 years but it is not something I talk about lots. The Live Fearless challenge was an opportunity for me to prioritise exercise but also to publicise Crohn’s and colitis and the impact it has had on my life. I was overwhelmed by the support I received from friends and family. So many people were willing to donate and support me. I was very humbled by the experience and it has left me with a tremendous sense of mental well-being and feeling very loved.”
