I'm living fearlessly this September. Will you support me?
I’m taking on the Live Fearless Challenge this September to raise awareness and funds for the almost 180,000 Australians living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease 10 years ago, after experiencing symptoms for over 3 years, just months after having my first child. It was an incredibly scary time. I had a one-year-old and a three-year-old who depended on me, and suddenly I was facing a chronic illness I knew very little about.
Since then, life has been a journey of ups and downs. I’ve tried four different medications (none of which have put me into remission), undergone a bowel resection, and I’m now about to begin my fifth treatment plan. Crohn’s is unpredictable, often invisible, and incredibly tough — both physically and emotionally.
This challenge I’m taking on is more than just a fundraiser — it’s deeply personal. It’s not something I usually talk about outside of my family, but I want to help shine a light on what it’s like to live with a chronic, invisible illness. To raise awareness. To support others going through similar experiences. And to channel something difficult into something positive.
This disease has shaped me, but it hasn't defined me. It’s taught me resilience, strength, and compassion.
IBD is one of the most misunderstood chronic health conditions. Yet people living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are ‘frequent flyers’ of the hospital system. It strips away income, disrupts education, work, relationships and travel, and can have a significant impact on both physical and mental health.
That’s why I’m getting active this September and aiming to complete 150km. Every kilometre is for the thousands of people living with IBD who face this in silence.
Consider supporting me as I take on the LFC! Your donation will help fund research, patient support, education and advocacy - because no one should have to manage this disease on their own.
