I'm living fearlessly this September by participating in the Live Fearless Challenge 2022
I’m getting active to achieve 150kms and raise awareness and much needed funds for Australians living with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
Crohn's disease causes inflammation of your digestive tract as a result of your body attacking itself. It can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhoea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition.
Unfortunately, as it is at the moment, there is no cure, but with ongoing research hopefully some day we can live in a world without this horrible disease!
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2020 after years of undiagnosed issues and symptoms which culminated in excruciating pain that landed me in hospital on the night of my engagement party. It has been a long road since diagnosis, but I am much healthier now after receiving ongoing treatment over the last two years. As tough as it has been, I consider myself lucky as I have been able to live my life relatively normally. The majority of people with this disease struggle to get out of bed every morning.
For me, everyday is filled with questioning every stomach grumble and slight pain in fear that I will be back to square one. Sometimes the toughest part of this disease is the not knowing when it’s my turn to not be able to get out of bed, because no matter how well I am doing, there is good chance the day will come where I will need rebuild myself again.
All proceeds go towards Crohn's & Colitis Australia's support services, research initiatives, education and advocacy programs for the Crohn's and colitis community.
Thank you and see you at the finish line!
