I'm undertaking the Live Fearless Challenge this September

THE LIVE FEARLESS CHALLENGE IS OFFICIALLY A GO!!!??
______________________________________
Throughout the month of September I will be taking part in the live fearless challenge whereby I will be attempting to run 150 kilometres to raise awareness and funds for the not-for-profit organisation, Crohn’s and Colitis Australia.
Crohn’s and Colitis are diseases that are collectively known as IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and impact the lives of about 85,000 Australians with that figure set to rise to 100,000 by 2022. These conditions currently have no cure and there is also no conclusive cause of the condition as of yet.
But that’s where Crohn’s and Colitis Australia comes into play, these guys raise funds through events like this to try and fund new and ongoing research into cures and treatments, education, advocacy and support initiatives. So by participating in this challenge, the funds raised will play their part in finding more effective medications for treatment – or ultimately finding a cure and being able to live in an IBD free world!!
So why am I partaking in this challenge? Well it is not usually something that I would openly disclose, but I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease just over 5 years ago in 2015. I have been extremely lucky that my medications have been mostly successful in managing my condition, but for some, they haven’t been so lucky and that’s why the funds raised are so important to allow more research into these conditions, to as their saying goes “Make life more liveable”.
So if you would like to come and witness my attempt, jump on over to @jg_live_fearless_challenge and chuck us a follow, or if you would like to donate to support this amazing cause, click the link below – these are understandably tough times for everyone, but every little bit counts and goes a long way to hopefully finding a cure to this debilitating disease!!
Thank you all so much – and I hope everyone is staying safe in these crazy times!!

DONATIONS: $2,169!!!

WE HAVE DONE IT - THE 2020 LIVE FEARLESS CHALLENGE IS COMPLETED!!!!!
It may not have been the finish line as a marathon runner would experience, but I reckon I did one better… I got a call last week from the one and only @smont2929 who said he’d love to come along and finish off the challenge strong with me – and that is exactly what he did. The bloke who was previously my boss, recovering from a hamstring injury, came out and punched out a solid 7 kilometres with me to the finish line… couldn’t have had it any better!!! So a massive thank you to you Monty – you are the definition of a living legend!!

SHOUTOUT TO TODAYS DONORS:
- Erik Hendrix
@smont2929 (AGAIN!!)
- Warren Young (the second member of the dynamic duo!!)
@brooke.collins

A massive thank you to each and every one of you for jumping behind this awesome cause – you are all flippin legends and I can’t thank you enough for your contributions!!

There is still time left in the day so the challenge has not completely finished, but as of 6:25pm today – we have successfully raised a total of $2,169 for Crohn’s and Colitis Australia!!!! THAT IS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!
If you would still like to contribute to this fundraiser – there is still time!! Jump on over to;
https://www.livefearlesschallenge.com.au/fundraiser/joshgardner
and you can donate any amount you like – every little bit adds up and is greatly appreciated!!
As much as I am sure you are all very sick of my face by now (sorry!)– I will post an update later on in the week to give a final tally to show you all what we have achieved together, and to recognise everyone who has been generous enough to support this cause!!!

So for not quite the last time – but not far off…
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND KEEP PUNCHING!!!

Now I’m extremely sorry to do this to any non-Richmond fans, but it would be rude not to share a piece of history that happened on this day last year... the squad and I brought home the cup in flying colours hahah!!!
I can’t lie, I was pretty proud of that effort... (make sure you have a closer look...) hahah
I will say however, on the running side of things - if this challenge was to go even 1 extra day I would be in trouble!! But luckily, we’ve only got 2 days left until we finish this challenge and my legs get to fall off!!

SHOUTOUT TO TODAYS DONORS:
@alyssadinuzzo and @beccarrie - thank you both SO much for getting behind me in supporting @crohns_and_colitis_australia - every single little bit counts and especially during these testing times it goes to show the amazing people we have in our world!! Thank you both so much for your support!!

That’s right everyone - it’s day 27 of the #livefearlesschallenge which also means... THERE IS ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT!!!
Can’t party yet though - because the next three days will probably be the toughest with all the wear and tear starting to build up!!
As some of you may have noticed I have been trying to take different routes each run to spice it up a bit - but today I accidentally took a wrong turn so had to run up and down a couple of streets to clock the 5km... Whoops...

SHOUTOUT TO TODAYS DONORS:
Darren O’Connor - just another absolute cracker of a bloke who has contributed to this awesome cause... that’s for jumping on board Dazza!!
Jacob Long - another bloke who I have basically grown up with since the beginning of school, and one of the few mates who had a crack at the thing we call golf early on in the piece!!

Thanks so much fellas for jumping on board this fantastic cause @crohns_and_colitis_australia - absolutely smashing it!!

Another day draws to a close... better keep it consistent...

KEEP PUNCHING!!!

4 more runs to go people... the seemingly never ending running posts from yours truly are nearly done - but to have been able to raise funds and awareness through this process, I wouldn’t have had it any other way!!

SHOUTOUT TO TODAYS DONOR:
@nathan_hd99 - now for those of you who don’t already know, not only has this ripper bloke donated to this cause... but he is embarking on his own MASSIVE fundraising effort where he is walking from our city of Melbourne...... ALL THE WAY TO BRISBANE!!!! Nathan and Blake are attempting this massive feat to raise funds for Dogs for Kids, an AMAZING cause - so if you haven’t already, jump on over to their Facebook page “K’s for Days” and follow along on their epic journey... As you can see, Young Murphy always loves a cuddle... despite being a horse!!
What an absolutely magnificent day for a run... (said no one ever when it’s raining cats and dogs hahah)
And for that exact reason - got out a bit earlier today and was lucky enough to beat the rain... WITHOUT A SINGLE DROP!!
We are on the final count down now... starting to take a bit more of a physical toll but we are all done and dusted on WEDNESDAY!!! No doubt I’ll be giving the body a well deserved break - but the show is not over yet!!

SHOUTOUT TO TODAYS DONOR:
@jordankrugerr - only known this bloke for what 16+ years... played cricket on the MCG with him, played footy on the MCG with him... I mean that’s pretty awesome right??

SUNSHINE!!! We had SUNSHINE for our run today?!? I even went with the contact lenses in preparation for rain and got absolutely none of it... I won’t complain!!

Still slow, but better than anything I could’ve done previously!!

Must have something to do with an iso cut and running faster?????
12 more days of cringeworthy posts from yours truly... you’ve all done an amazing job to stay tuned 18 days in - so for that I am extremely grateful and we can successfully say that by doing this challenge we have not only raised vital funds, but also awareness, which is just as important for the IBD community!!!

Just another lovely Spring day in Melbs spent inside... but that’s alright - things are looking positive going forward!!

Special mention to @smont2929 for being one of the single best bosses anyone could ever ask for - particularly for being extremely understanding when I came back knocking for a job after my longgg 3 month stint at Woolies...!! I’m forever grateful for yourself and Wazza taking me back, when I had just been diagnosed too!!

That’s all for today folks, as per usual - keep punching and stay safe!!

THE BEGINNING OF THE LIVE FEARLESS CHALLENGE 2020!!
