I'm living fearlessly this September by participating in the Live Fearless Challenge 2024
I'm hitting thhe pavement again to raise awareness and much needed funds for Australians living with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
After becoming severely ill when i was 16 i was diagnosed with Crohn's. I struggled for a long time to come to terms with the condition, refusing to take medication and seeking alternative treatments. I was fortunate to have periods of remission in my 20s but also has periods of severe flare ups that resulted in several hospital visits. In my early 30s I finally acknowledged that it is a medical condition and I need medical treatment. But the damage was done. A severe flare up that led to a perforated bowel and several strictures highlighted the need for surgery. I had approximately 1 metre of small bowel removed and recovery was incredibly difficult. A few years later i required more surgery, but was better prepared. I now have short bowel syndrome but am in a better space largely attributed to acknowledgement of the condition, great medical treatment and loving family and friends.
As I challenge myself to raise awareness and funds for better treatments during September, it would really help me to know that I have your support. If you can rally behind me with even a small donation, it would motivate me through the month and keep my spirits high.
All proceeds go towards Crohn's & Colitis Australia's support services, research initiatives, education and advocacy programs for the Crohn's and colitis community.
