Will you support my Live Fearless Challenge?

There’s a lot about living with IBD that people never see. 💜

Since being diagnosed, I’ve realised just how isolating it can be to live with something that isn’t always visible or understood by the people around you.

The isolation that can come with a diagnosis is unlike anything I had experienced before. There’s so much happening inside your body and in your head that other people simply can’t see and sometimes you don’t even have the words to explain it yourself.

And then there are the parts that become your everyday reality: the pain, fatigue, uncertainty, appointments, medications, cancelled plans, the mental toll, constantly thinking about food and your body and never quite knowing what your body is going to throw at you next.

Having to spend time in hospital every 8 weeks to receive infusions wasn’t how I pictured my early 20s. It’s not about expecting my body to feel 100%. Sometimes, it’s just wanting to feel 5% closer to what other people get to experience without thinking twice about it.

IBD has changed the way I understand myself and has shown me just how much people with chronic illness can carry while still trying to live their lives.

That’s why I’m taking part in this challenge. I want to make IBD a little less invisible, raise awareness about what living with it can actually look like and support the research working towards better treatments and hopefully one day, a cure.

If sharing my experience means someone who has just been diagnosed feels a little less alone, helps someone better understand what IBD actually looks like, or contributes in some small way towards a future with better treatments and a cure - then it’s worth it. 💜

Why this challenge? 💜

For me, this isn’t just about completing a

challenge - it’s about using the opportunity to raise awareness about something that has become an important part of my life.

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis a few years ago, and since then I’ve become much more aware of how little people often know about IBD and the impact it can have on someone’s life.

There’s so much about IBD that people don’t see - the pain, fatigue, uncertainty, appointments, medications, the mental toll, and the way you can sometimes have no idea what your body is going to throw at you next.

That’s why I wanted to take part in this challenge; to help bring a little more attention to IBD and support the work being done towards better treatments and, hopefully one day, a cure.

If sharing my experience helps someone else feel a little less alone, helps someone better understand what IBD actually looks like, or contributes in some small way towards a future with better treatments, then it’s worth it. 💜
