What can I do if I don’t have time to get outside to exercise?

It’s time to get out, smell the roses and do some physical activity! Adapting your exercise routine to include green exercise can boost your wellbeing. Green exercise explains the benefits of completing physical activity outside. Here are some tips if you feel like you don’t have time to exercise outside.

1. Use your lunch break

If you work in the office, getting outside can be very difficult especially when it’s not summer. Instead of eating your lunch inside in the office or at home, you can get outside, go for a walk, and eat your lunch in a local park then head back to work. This will increase your focus at work in the afternoon and help you get all your steps in.

2. Explore your area

Instead of spending your weekends inside and if you live by national parks or any nice parks, you can take your friends or family, go for a nice walk, and sit in nature. Packing a picnic with some food and drinks will not only allow you spend more time outside, but to get a reset. The key factor is to either go for a walk or possibly a bike ride to not only get some exercise but find places to walk/run or bike ride that you enjoy and motivate you to continue exercising.

3. Don’t always drive to work

If you’re going into the office, mix up your commute to work. If you feel like time is an issue, riding your bike to work or walking to work is a great option if you are close enough. If you do live too far away, you can leave for work earlier in the morning, leave your car a little bit further away from the tram, train or bus and include walking in your commute.

4. Start an outside hobby

Making time for having fun is just as important as getting enough exercise. You can join an outside fitness group or just garden in your backyard. Just make sure it is something you enjoy so that can keep at it. Here are some more ideas:
